FISHERMEN AND SEAFOOD LOVERS FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE OF FISHING.

The South Atlantic commercial fishing industry is an economic engine that provides jobs, preserves critical coastal commercial fishing infrastructure, and supplies fresh, local, healthy seafood to communities, restaurant and individuals throughout the Southeast and beyond.

Unfortunately, our industry is under siege from regulations, pollution, climate change and economic and social challenges.

The South Atlantic fishermen's Association and our members fight for our industry through advocacy, engagement, and education.

Since 2010, we’ve continued to:

  • advocate for smart fisheries regulations

  • connect restaurants and seafood lovers with fishermen harvesting fresh, local seafood

  • help build scientific knowledge through leading and participating in fisheries studies

  • share our stories and educated the community on local, wild-caught seafood

  • participate in national fisheries efforts through membership in the National Seafood Harvesters and through lobbying congress

“Commercial fishing is an important part of our heritage here in the Southeast and supports buying local and the tourism and restaurant businesses. With smart regulations and an eye toward fishing for future generations, we can keep fishermen on the water.”
